Use the account’s official data export
Begin with the messages included in the export you request through Instagram’s own account controls. ExChat does not need your Instagram password, cookies, or access to the live account.
Treat shared posts as context, not evidence
Links, reels, reactions, and deleted media may be incomplete outside Instagram. Keep only the context you understand and avoid treating a reaction or shared post as proof of a person’s beliefs or intentions.
Minimize names and private details
Remove usernames, contact information, group participants, intimate content, and references to unrelated people. Use the smallest source set that captures the communication patterns you are authorized to model.
Build a representation, not an impersonation
Customize personality, memories, avatar details, and expressive reactions while keeping the persona recognizably artificial. Do not use it to contact others, publish deceptive screenshots, or imply endorsement.
Review and correct the result
Test the persona with questions the messages do and do not answer. It should acknowledge uncertainty instead of filling gaps with confident fiction, and you should be able to remove any memory that feels wrong.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Does ExChat log in to Instagram for me?
No. Use the official account export and provide only the conversation material you choose. Never give ExChat your Instagram password or session data.
Can reactions and shared posts shape the persona?
They can provide limited context, but they may be incomplete and should not be treated as proof of a person’s intentions. Review every extracted inference.
Can I publish an AI persona made from Instagram messages?
Real-person personas are intended to remain private. Do not use generated replies or images to impersonate someone or imply that they approved the output.
